Aliyah: How to Chant the Torah Blessings

Each time Torah is read, it is preceded and followed by the chanting or reading of a blessing. This is called an Aliyah, and it is considered an honor, especially during a Bar or Bat Mitzvah and High Holiday services.  When you are going to have an Aliyah, the Rabbi will call you to the Torah by your Hebrew name, which includes the Hebrew name of your parents. Please be sure to provide the Rabbi with your Hebrew name and the Hebrew name of your mother and father.
